A 32-year-old patient arrives after a motorcycle crash. He is restless, has gurgling respirations, facial blood, SpO2 86% on room air, HR 132, BP 104/68, and an obvious open tibia fracture with oozing controlled by a dressing. As the trauma nurse, which action has the highest priority?
ABCs make D first: gurgling, blood in the airway, and hypoxemia indicate an immediate airway and breathing threat; suction, oxygen, positioning, and escalation are RN priorities. A is appropriate for fracture care but follows life-threatening airway problems. B supports circulation and may soon be needed, but oxygenation is the first priority. C is part of secondary survey and handoff preparation, but it delays stabilization. Review RN Trauma Decision Framework — focus on airway, breathing, circulation, then reassess.

Learners
The guided drills were the difference. I stopped re-reading notes and started doing timed sets. My scores jumped in two weeks.
The explanations are crisp and the pacing is perfect. I used the active recall prompts every night and it stuck.
I loved the frameworks and examples. Prioritization became obvious, and the drills fixed my weak spots fast.
